Eva misunderestimated for good

You can only urge a return to what used to be traditional gender roles in Germany for just so long, and only go just so far, of course. Now news-reader-talk-show-host-pro-motherhood-book-author lady Eva Herman has done both and got canned accordingly.

She is no longer suitable for public viewing consumption on Germany’s NDR, in other words (although she still looks fine to me). She actually put the N-word in her mouth when talking about values. When talking about values like family, children and motherhood, I mean. Not smart. Or perhaps it was very smart. If it was intentional, I mean. You know; publicity and all that?

I can’t count the times public people have been slammed or sacked here by using the N-word in public and come to think of it I probably should have taken the time to do so, damn it. And what surprises me is how nonchalant these public people are when it comes to doing so, especially when they have no pressing need to reference the N-word or address the N-word era or make comparisons to it. It is usually completely unnecessary and a no-brainer. A no-brainer not to use the N-word, I mean.

Unless, of course, you are intent upon shooting yourself in the foot. And this is probably what our Eva here wanted to do. Or is she really as blonde as she looks?

Don’t go there M.A.S.H. fans (put obscene, grunt-like laugh here).

Wir werden gebären bis der Arzt kommt.

Kommentare auf Deutsch? Klar.

PS: Thanks for the Jenninger link, Indeterminacy. And thanks for the challenge link, Joe.

1 - I saw the headlines at my local kiosk and almost choked on the Brötchen. What the hell was she thinking? Forget Gorleben, Hitler is still the most radioactive subject in Germany. Free speech, yeah - but no N-werdz! (Comment this)

2 - She found the way to crucify yourself in Germany. I remember the case of Phillip Jenninger back in the 80's - an unfortunate politician whose only crime seems to have been inability to express himself properly. Some speech of his was misinterpreted as praise for the Nazis, and that was the end of his career:

It was how I learned the German word Eklat - as that was all over the newspaper headlines.

As to why they bring up these themes? They spend years in school going over the Nazi times - really into excess, where we would spend maybe two weeks and move on. (Comment this)

3 - Eva is right women find fulfillment as wives and mothers. We are a bonding species and the pinnacle of our development is finding our other half in the opposite sex, men gain fulfillment by winning the trust of a woman and woman by winning the love of a man. Women want to be loved it is in their nature, i'am not against women having careers but their first priority should be to find a partner. Marriage is not for everyone but it does work and whats created damage to society is the demonization of men and the pressure of women to compete against men and to have careers. I am sick of feminists shoving their propaganda down my throat they have done more damage to society than Hitler himself. Mans love for a women stems from his need to protect her, this aspect of nature is called oppressive by feminists, what garbage. If anything they should ostracized for their hideous views, i must say though Eva made an error quoting the most vilest regime on Earth, no matter the topic its best to avoid the N word. (Comment this)

4 - Anonymous, I agree. In that her attitude is just as valid or "true" as the politically correct one is, that is. The real "mistake" here is in thinking that there is some absolute truth out there when it comes to questions like this. That her views can cause such a stir in this day and age, the N-word episode aside, only shows how trapped certain ideologues are in their humorless dogma. It must be tiring to have to think the way you think others expect you to think all the time. (Comment this)

5 - She put her employer into an impossible position, it must be said. Keep her on and risk being called N-sympathisers themselves, fire her and be accused of caving into to the pervading PC groupthink. (Comment this)
