Oscar-nominated “Lives of Others” actually made by Stasi operative

“German” film director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck may think he has a few Hollywood insider puke types fooled with his highly-acclaimed and Oscar-nominated GDR-Stasi-East-Berlin flick “Lives of Others”, but this shady sleeper is going to have to get up a little earlier in the morning before he can pull the wool over this shady sleeper’s eyes.

That’s right. Mr. big shot up-and-coming bozo writer-director here is obviously still working for the Stasi himself. And don’t come at me with any of this “but the Stasi doesn’t exist anymore” crap. That just makes it all the more sinister and EVIL, don’t you see? You fools. And how do I know? I’ll tell you how I know: I listened to this NPR interview with him yesterday. No “German” speaks English that well. Like no friggin’ way. Listen for yourself if you don’t believe me. I suspect he’s actually a Lithuanian.

And the fact that von Donnersmarck must have only been about twelve years old when hired and trained by these despicable corrupters of youth only shows us how far-reaching the pernicious and even apocalyptic the plans made by these now defunct secret police types really were/are. Imagine these guys taking an Oscar home? If they had one anymore, I mean. Talk about a coup. If this film takes home the best foreign-language Oscar, I’d say the rest of us can pretty much kiss what’s left of Western Civilization goodbye.

Don’t be fooled. And don’t watch this film! Wait until it comes out on DVD. You fools. It’s much cheaper that way.

Und nicht so laut hier im Kino. Da wird alles mitgeschnitten.

1 - Stasi? Looks more like the grown-up version of the kid from Napoleon Dynamite. (Comment this)

2 - Totally agree. That film blows away not only this year's competition, it's the best one in years. If they don't give it the Oscar, it'd be a crime.
Most telling scene: the pathetic depiction of the poor man's only sexual outlet with an aging functionary / whore. (Comment this)

3 - Have you seen it? Is it any good? The only German movie I can get here is "Run Lola Run" and that's in the work-out section. I so want Netflix to become an international business. (Comment this)

4 - Its a great movie which shows the social atmosphere in the DDR in the upper circles of artists and within the StaSi organisation itself. I was impressed most by the everday-behaviour of the StaSi agents and their whole institution in the 1980s. When such an institution is around for decades, this is what it seems to become. (Comment this)

5 - Sorry, can't recommend the film. The story is too constructed and unbelievable and in some parts a bit lengthy. From an eastgerman point of view there are too many stereotypes and mistakes in the film. Okay, the actors are good but ... (Comment this)
